Mowing the Right of Way
The City of Destin is responsible to mow in the right-of-way of undeveloped property. Mowing on private property is the responsibility of the property owner or the homeowners association.
To report debris in the public streets, contact the Public Services Department at (850) 837-6869. To
report debris discarded on the right of way
at (850) 837-4242.
An easement is a grant by a property owner that allows use of a specific portion of the property by the general public, a corporation or certain persons. The easement area is still owned by the property owner and their responsibility.
It is the responsibility of the Public Services Department to identify trees that create a hazard to pedestrians, vehicles and visibility. Low hanging limbs will be trimmed to standard code to accomplish this. Property owners are encouraged to keep their trees properly trimmed.
