Oil Spill Information and Useful Links

DATE: August 30, 2010 / 1:30 p.m.

All seven miles of Destin’s sugar-white beaches continue to be open and are in great shape, as they have been during much of the BP oil spill incident.  Okaloosa County Emergency Management has posted an informative website that tracks Okaloosa County beach conditions and Okaloosa County/BP's response to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.  You can access this page at www.okaloosaoilresponse.com.  Additionally, Okaloosa County has put together a central page for updates for the county area.

Update on Individual and Business Claims.

Claims previously filed with the BP Claims Process, related to the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, are transitioning on August 23rd to the new Gulf Coast Claims Facility (GCCF) for review, evaluation and determination.
Effective Monday, August 23rd, to file a claim, you can do one of the following:

(1)  Access the GCCF website at www.GulfCoastClaimsFacility.com

(2) Call the toll-free number 1-800-916-4893 to receive a copy of the claim form by US Mail.  (TTY: 1-866-682-1758)

(3) Visit one of the GCCF Claims Site Offices.

In order to ensure an orderly transition of data to the GCCF, BP will not accept claims into it system between August 19 and August 22. For existing claimants only:  The Immediate Action Claims Team will continue to operate through Friday, August 20th, and can be contacted at 1-8000-573-8249.  This steam will work ONLY with those who have real emergencies. GCCF is the only authorized organization managing business and individual claims related to the Deepwater Horizon Incident.
