The Destin Library will be closed for Labor Day.

We will NOT be offering curbside service Monday. Staff will NOT be available via phone to answer questions, provide assistance, and check out materials for curbside pickup.

Children’s Grab Bags!

Youth Services Librarian Laura Harris will be assembling grab bags for curbside pickup. Each Grab Bag bag will contain 10 read-aloud books chosen by Miss Laura, as well as an age-appropriate DVD. Books will be a mix of fiction and nonfiction that families can enjoy together!

If your children are reading independently and you would like to include books for them to read on their own, please provide your child’s reading level on your form. Miss Laura will choose up to 3 chapter books for your child.

New Service: Teen and Adult Grab Bags!

Library staff will be assembling grab bags for curbside pickup. All-fiction book bags will contain 3 books; mixed fiction/nonfiction book bags may contain a documentary based on the chosen theme. Movie bags will contain three movies that match your genre and rating preferences to the best of our ability.

Please let us know if there is a genre or theme you want that isn’t listed on the form! We’ll do our best to fulfill your request.

Curbside Pickup

Library staff will begin offering curbside pickup of requested library materials on a limited basis starting Monday, May 4th. When you receive notification that an item you requested is available you can call the library or email to schedule curbside service.

Please place materials on hold through the online catalog for curbside pickup. To place holds visit and log in to your online catalog account using your library card number and PIN. (The default PIN for all users is changeme. If you have never reset your PIN this should work for you.)

Books currently at the Destin Library will be available for pickup 1-2 working days after your request is placed, depending on the item’s availability. Books from other libraries in Okaloosa County may take up to a week to arrive as our courier service is currently limited to one delivery per week.

Your library offers four fantastic online learning platforms for learners of all ages:

BrainFuse HelpNow is a tutoring and homework help site for K-12 students. Learners can practice existing skills, chat with a live teacher, submit writing samples for professional proofreading, and more!

BrainFuse JobNow is a resource site for adult learners and jobseekers. The professional resume lab, skills assessments, test prep, and interview coaching will help you land on your feet and hit the ground running.

Universal Class is a self-paced video learning platform with more than 500 available courses. Whether you want to learn how to budget, pick up a new hobby, or develop new professional skills, Universal Class has something for everyone.

Transparent Language is a great tool for exploring new languages. It features over 100 language courses, including a wide selection of English courses for non-native speakers. Their KidSpeak courses are perfect for keeping students on track with their foreign language classes, too!

Introduction to Teaching Phonics at Home: In this video series Destin Library Children’s Librarian Laura Harris introduces the fundamentals of the phonetic method of reading education. She will provide a summary of the method and some helpful tools and tips for practicing phonics with your children, including and overview of the Destin Library’s new Early Readers collection.

Florida Atlantic University Homeschooling LibGuide: a collection of resources for homeschooling parents curated by library staff at Florida Atlantic University. "This guide of almost entirely free (with a few partially free) resources for home schooling focuses on information for parents and caregivers, plus resources for children."

Sebco Books Free eBook Library: a library of free downloadable ebooks, including a wide range of nonfiction titles to supplement homeschooling lessons. Important Note: to log in leave the prefilled username and password in the form and click the "Log In" button. Use "1" as your student ID number on the next screen.

Florida Electronic Library: an expansive collection of databases, free ebooks, and more curated by the Florida Division of Library and Information Services. This electronic library is free to all residents of Florida. Important Note: this website will require you to enable location access for it to validate that you are  in the state of Florida.
