Mowing the Right of Way

The City of Destin is responsible for mowing the right-of-way adjacent to undeveloped property.  Mowing on private property and the portion of the right-of-way adjacent to a developed parcel is the responsibility of the property owner or the homeowners’ association per Destin’s Land Development Code Chapter 8, Article 1.

Debris Removal

To report debris in the public streets, contact the Public Works Department at (850) 837-6869. To report debris discarded on the right of way, contact Code Enforcement at (850) 837-4242

Easements

An easement is a grant by a property owner that allows use of a specific portion of the property by the general public, a corporation or certain persons. The easement area is still owned by the property owner and is their responsibility to maintain.

Tree Trimming

It is the responsibility of the Public Works Department to identify trees that create a hazard to pedestrians, vehicles and visibility. Low hanging limbs will be trimmed to standard code to accomplish this. Property owners are encouraged to keep their trees properly trimmed. 

Dead Animals

Report dead animals in the street, city rights of way and public beaches at (850) 837-6869 or report the problem online.
