The
RESTORE Act of 2012 is an acronym for: Resources and Ecosystems Sustainability, Tourist Opportunities and Revived Economies of the Gulf Coast States Act of 2012. The RESTORE Act established a Gulf Coast Restoration Trust Fund in the U.S. Treasury in which 80 percent of the Clean Water Act penalties from the Deep Horizon Oil Spill will be distributed to impacted areas for recovery. Okaloosa County is one of these impacted areas.
Okaloosa County has established the
Okaloosa County RESTORE Council to assist the board of county commissioners in determining projects would qualify for funding under the RESTORE Act. See a list of
proposed projects in Okaloosa County.
