Temporary Application & Inspection Procedures due to the closure of Community Development Offices to the Public.

Out of an abundance of caution for the health of our residents, City Staff and visitors and to ensure we are not contributing to the spread of COVID-19, the Destin City Council voted unanimously that beginning March 23, 2020 the lobbies of the City Hall, City Hall Annex and Public Services Complex will be closed to the Public. In light of that, the Community Development Department will be using the following procedures to conduct business effective March 23, 2020 and will continue until further notice.

To serve as a communication channel among all divisions of the department and to improve key internal processes to deliver quality customer service.

The Community Development Department includes the Office of the Director, the divisions of: Building, Planning/Zoning and Engineering. The Building and Planning/Zoning Divisions assist with ensuring construction and development activities comply with the latest building codes, the city's Land Development Code and the city's Comprehensive Plan. The Engineering Division applies broad-based engineering and transportation principles and plan reviews to ensure the public health, safety and welfare of the city. 

The Office of the Director provides coordinated direction, management and support to carry out the Department's mission, goals and policies. This office provides budgeting, financial, strategic planning, training, personnel and safety services, as well as providing customer service for the community concerning development services that the Department provides. This office also oversees and coordinates the communication, information, emergency and contract management of the Department.
