Mission

The Code Compliance Department is composed of trained officers who use a hometown community approach and in doing so, creates strong bonds with our City of Destin residents and visitors. The goal is to strengthen community outreach and gain voluntary compliance through education of City ordinances. Compliance Officers perform a variety of technical duties in support of the City's local code enforcement program. They monitor and enforce a variety of applicable ordinances, codes, and regulations related to zoning, land use, building codes, public nuisance, short and long term rentals, beach vendors, beach management, harbor and waterways, livery vessels, health and safety, blight, and other matters of public concern. They serve as a resource of information on City regulations to property owners, residents, businesses, the general public, and other City departments and divisions. In addition to their responsibilities pertaining to Code Compliance, the officers identify and solve problems, establish goals, and define strategies within the community.
