Temporary Application & Inspection Procedures due to the closure of Community Development Offices to the Public.
Out of an abundance of caution for the health of our residents, City Staff and visitors and to ensure we are not contributing to the spread of COVID-19, the Destin City Council voted unanimously that beginning March 23, 2020 the lobbies of the City Hall, City Hall Annex and Public Services Complex will be closed to the Public. In light of that, the Community Development Department will be using the following procedures to conduct business effective March 23, 2020 and will continue until further notice.
The Planning Division is responsible for short-term planning, long-term planning, transportation planning, and addressing. Short-term planning includes the review of all types of development projects as well as the routine processing of construction permit applications, applications for various types of compliance letters, and providing information to the public on zoning and Land Development Code matters.
Long-range planning includes periodic amendments to the Comprehensive Plan, Land Development Code and transportation planning. Transportation planning includes participation on various committees of the regional Transportation Planning Organization, monitoring traffic concurrency as well as the progress and effectiveness of the Multimodal Transportation District. The Planning Division also provides staff support for the Board of Adjustment, the Local Planning Agency, and the Destin City Council.
