Library Service Updates
A limited number of public access computers will be available with a 1-hour time limit per patron.
Exam proctoring and notary services will be available by appointment or on a walk-in basis.
One-on-one computer assistance will be unavailable until further notice.
Library programs will remain suspended until further notice. Virtual Summer Reading activities for children are available on our Beanstack reading tracker platform.
The PC Lab will be available by appointment only; please call the library to request an appointment.
Patron hold limits will return to 15 items per patron.
Overdue fines will resume as normal.
Our study rooms, conference room, and Digital Media Lab will be open with the following occupancy limits:
Small Conference Rooms: 4 patrons
Study Rooms: 2 patrons
Digital Media Lab: 2 patrons
The Calhoun Room and Miss Willie Mae Room will remain closed until further notice.
Library staff will begin offering curbside pickup of requested library materials on a limited basis starting Monday, May 4th. When you receive notification that an item you requested is available you can call the library or email email@example.com to schedule curbside service.
Please place materials on hold through the online catalog for curbside pickup. To place holds visit www.readokaloosa.org and log in to your online catalog account using your library card number and PIN. (The default PIN for all users is changeme. If you have never reset your PIN this should work for you.)
Books currently at the Destin Library will be available for pickup 1-2 working days after your request is placed, depending on the item’s availability. Books from other libraries in Okaloosa County may take up to a week to arrive as our courier service is currently limited to one delivery per week.

Introduction to Teaching Phonics at Home: In this video series Destin Library Children’s Librarian Laura Harris introduces the fundamentals of the phonetic method of reading education. She will provide a summary of the method and some helpful tools and tips for practicing phonics with your children, including and overview of the Destin Library’s new Early Readers collection.
Florida Atlantic University Homeschooling LibGuide: a collection of resources for homeschooling parents curated by library staff at Florida Atlantic University. "This guide of almost entirely free (with a few partially free) resources for home schooling focuses on information for parents and caregivers, plus resources for children."
Sebco Books Free eBook Library: a library of free downloadable ebooks, including a wide range of nonfiction titles to supplement homeschooling lessons.
